The Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis (CPF) is pleased to announce the airing of an interview with actor James Marsden on Country Music Television (CMT)’s CMT Insider show on Saturday, May 2 at 1:30 EDT/PDT and 12:30 p.m. CDT. The interview was taped at the recent “A Night of Burnin’ Love” CPF fundraising event hosted by the family of the late Dennis Linde in Nashville at the Musician’s Hall of Fame.

Dennis Linde, the hugely successful songwriter who wrote “Burnin’ Love,” a song recorded by Elvis, along with numerous other major musical hits, died from pulmonary fibrosis (PF) in 2006. Marsden was Dennis Linde’s son-in-law and is married to Linde’s daughter, actress and soap-opera star Lisa Linde.

The interview with Marsden, who starred in movies such as 27 Dresses, Enchanted, The Notebook and X-Men, focuses on his Hollywood career and also shares details of his connection to country music through Mr. Linde and his wife, Lisa. CMT recorded Marsden’s performances of Linde songs, “The Love She Found in Me”, originally recorded by country and Broadway artist Gary Morris and “Callin’ Baton Rouge” recorded by Garth Brooks. During the CPF event, CMT interviewed Marsden about his family’s tragic experience with PF along with his concerns that his wife and his children could be at risk for the deadly lung disease. X-Men heartthrob James Marsden is to take on a role made famous by Dustin Hoffman in a remake of the classic thriller Straw Dogs, according to the Hollywood Reporter Friday, dpa reported.
The 1971 original was directed by Sam Peckinpah and sparked controversy for its violent content. It featured Hoffman as a pacifist professor in country retreat who fights a brutal conflict with the locals who resent his intellectual attitude and with whom his wife enjoys flirting with.
For the remake by director Rod Lurie, Marsden will play a Los Angeles screenwriter who relocates with his wife to the deep south where tensions build in their marriage and with the locals.
Besides X-Men, Marsden had starred in Enchanted, 27 Dresses, Hairspray and Superman Returns.

If you like floating heads I have a big one for you as Cameron Diaz’s dome takes up a healthy amount of real estate on the just revealed poster for Richard Kelly’s The Box, which has bounced around the release calendar more times than I can count and currently sits on October 30. Kelly recently told Sci-Fi Wire, “The release date has been shuffling around a bit, but this is common with studios, and everyone feels like this is the best date for the film.” He also mentioned the film is 115 minutes long with more than 300 visual effects shots.

The Box stars Cameron Diaz, James Marsden and Frank Langella and is based on the 1970 short story “Button, Button” by Richard Matheson (”I Am Legend”). It centers on an unhappily married couple (Marsden and Diaz) who receives a box from a stranger who tells them that if they push a button on the box, they’ll receive a hefty amount of cash — and someone they don’t know will die. Kelly, who found his fame with Donnie Darko five years ago, wrote and directed the film.

The poster you see debuted on Richard Kelly’s MySpace blog with a quote from him saying, “I think the poster captures the suspense and conflict in the film, and at the same time has a bit of a classic Hitchcockian vibe to it.”

Casting has been announced for the Neil LaBute-directed comedy “Death at a Funeral.”
The American remake of the 2007 British motion picture will star Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence and Tracy Morgan with Danny Glover, Regina Hall, James Marsden, Zoe Saldana, Columbus Short, Loretta Devine and Ron Glass, according to Variety.
The Screen Gems-Sidney Kimmel Entertainment film was penned by Aeysha Carr and Chris Rock, who is also producing.
The film, according to the industry paper, “revolves around a dysfunctional family that gathers for the patriarch’s funeral. When tensions rise and old conflicts are uncovered, a man arrives saying he’s the dead man’s gay lover and threatens blackmail.”
Filming is scheduled to begin in the spring.
Sidney Kimmel, William Horberg, Share Stallings and Laurence Malkin produce. The latter two were producers of the original British film.
Director LaBute will be represented on Broadway later this season with his first Main Stem production, reasons to be pretty.
